Kate Mitchel, 1847 to1878

Rod Mcfarlan forwarded this link and images from an ABC article about Kate Mitchell who lived between 1847 and 1878 and spent most of her adult life on Tasmania’s east coast.

Kate lived a life of adventure it seems and recorded many aspects of it with sketches in her scrapbook which upon her death was donated to the Royal Society of Tasmania in 1946. Images of the original drawings will be part of an exhibition which will travel around Tasmania and to Victoria.

It will be of special interest to us given the LBT WOW group are continuing a fine tradition of Tasmanian women on the water.
