Every two years the Living Boat Trust in Franklin runs a fully catered, ten day small boat expedition in the south of Tasmania timed to arrive at the start of the Australian Wooden Boat Festival in Hobart. We also run a smaller scale four day ‘Return Raid’ from Hobart to Franklin after the festival.  The first of these expeditions was in 2007.
You can participate in the Raid in your own boat or on one of the Living Boat Trust’s fleet of expedition boats
The expeditions are called tawe nunnugah, meaning ‘travelling’ by ‘canoe’ in the language of the Melukerdee people, the original owners of the region who for millennia traversed these waterways by bark canoe.
The Raids are organised entirely by volunteers, with funds raised used to support the LBT’s on-going activities.
