Shannon Engine Procedures
To start engine take the following steps.
- Ensure water shut off is open, situated behind engine on port side of engine bay.
- Ensure fuel shut off is open, situated on top of fuel tank in locked compartment aft cockpit starboard side
- Turn battery switch on, bulkhead lower starboard side next to engine.
- control panel located starboard side above map table.
- Push bottom button start panel, lights on panel come on, warning buzzer will start after few seconds.
- Check that the engine throttle (port side, back of cockpit) is upright, in neutral
- Push top button on panel to engage starter motor, engine will start to crank, release button when engine started same as car, Should start in few seconds.
- DO NOT CRANK ENGINE FOR MORE THAN 15 SECONDS, LEAVE STARTER TO COOL FOR 2 MINUTES, OR STARTER WILL BE DAMAGED.
- Buzzer may sound for few seconds after starting with battery light on. Should then stop and light goes out.
- If still going rev engine for few seconds, if still going alternator electrical fault present.
- Check water coming from exhaust under aft starboard side of boat. Comes in burps,
- IF BUZZER STARTS UP WHILE ENGINE IS RUNNING, THE ENGINE IS FAILING, SHUT DOWN ENGINE AS SOON AS BOAT IS IN SAFE CONDITION. CONTINUED USE OF ENGINE WILL CAUSE MAJOR ENGINE FAILURE AND REPAIRS.
- Please note what warning lights are illuminated on control panel.
- TO OPERATE THROTTLE, PUSH FORWARD FOR REVERSE, PULL BACK TO GO AHEAD
- To shut down engine allow engine to idle for 5 minutes then pull stop cable located above battery switch.
