With daylight saving ended and the evening sun sinking not long after 5pm the season for armchair sailing has arrived. A good way to start it is by viewing a couple of oral history videos about the coastal trade. They were made by Gary Kerr a couple of decades ago when there were still plenty of crew members from these boats to talk to. The most local is ‘Trading out of Hobart’ (see >>here<<), but ‘The Trading Ketches of South Australia’ is equally entertaining, and most of their boats were Tasmanian. Wilsons get a big mention.
