SOS26: a quick wrap up

On Thursday evening the sailors and rowers returned to Franklin after 6 days away on the Sail Oar Safari.

The Tawe Nunnugahs of the last 20 years have set a very high bar for these LBT multi-day expeditions, but SOS26 easily vaulted over it with a great time had by all – or at least all that the LBT News editorial staff has spoken to. Like the best of the three bears porridge it was ‘just right’. Each leg was long enough for the sailors to spread their sails, but not too big for the rowers. The stopover points were interesting and varied. The built in lay day accounted for the one really bad bout of weather. The distance from the LBT kitchen where much of the cooking had to be done to the campsites was manageable – just. The piles of equipment to be be packed and dishes to be washed were hillocks, not mountains.

We have such great resources for these events on our doorstep – the sea, the places to visit, the boats, the always interesting Tasmanian weather, and above all the people. Organisation, preparation, catering, safety, accommodation, transport and more had to be managed, somebody had to do it, and it was done. Names could be named here, but only at the risk of causing offense by missing somebody, ‘cos there were a lot of them. We (and you) know who you are. Thank you.

For those non-participants who want to know more visit the >>SOS26 webpage<<. There will be more pics imported from the WhatsApp group shortly, but here are a few to go on with – thanks to the photographers.
