Peter Marmion on walking the coast of Tasmania

This was a Richard Edwards suggestion. He was part of the multitude who couldn’t get in the door to hear Peter Marmion’s presentation at the Royal Society and asked the LBT to organise (with Pete) a reprise event at the Palais. He thought the LBT Shed would be too small a venue, and he was right. We armchair explorers packed out the Palais for a wonderful photographic tour of the south west coast, peppered with Pete’s anecdotes.

Given the difficulties of traveling there it is as close as most of us are likely to get to this part of the world. We finished up with a ‘proper’ bring a plate Franklin supper, an opportunity for everybody to discuss what they had just seen and heard and enjoy each other’s company. Keith and Mel and the other organisers might have been exhausted by the end , but thanks to them and Peter we all had a great night.
