More on Lake St Clair (31st Oct – 3rd Nov)

This expedition has been on the bucket list ever since the Pieman trip a couple of years ago. We stopped in at Lake St Clair on the way home and agreed we had to do it – just not right then. As the Parks description says:

The atmosphere at Lake St Clair is moody and ethereal – there’s an almost enchanted presence at this tranquil place. The Aboriginal name for Lake St Clair is leeawuleena, meaning ‘sleeping water’, and on still days you can truly appreciate the origins of this name.

The proposal is as follows.

  • Meet at the LBT on Friday the 31st
  • Trailer the boats (Skiffs, sailing dinghies) the four hours up to Lake St Clair where we will stay the night, camping or in cabins or at the Lodge.
  • Row/sail the 14 km up the Lake to ‘Narcissus’ where we will stay in the bunkhouse or camp.
  • Free day for bushwalking, sailing etc.
  • On the Monday, row back across the Lake and drive to Franklin.
  • This will be a self-catering expedition, with the costs to be covered by the participants.

There is also the option (for the non-boaties) to walk to Narcissus.

We will be in daylight saving hours, and have ordered sunshine. See more about Lake St Clair from Parks >>here<< or WIkipedia >>here<<.

There is already considerable interest in this event – register >>here<<.
