‘Our dear Ruth died at 11.50pm Christmas Eve. She was surrounded by family, comfortable and passed peacefully in her sleep. We think, although don’t know details yet, that family are planning a celebration of Ruth’s amazing life at the Palais Theatre. Will pass on details when we hear.

The contribution Ruth made to our community is inestimable, and impossible to encompass in a column such as this one. It would not be unreasonable to say that without her this community might not exist, or at least only do so in a very impoverished and truncated form. And of course she was a valued and loved friend to many of us. Thank you Ruth.
