We almost did it properly in the ‘old’ days

Brian Marriott has unearthed some photos from the early noughties which will make a nice addition to the LBT collection. Amongst them is a record of the launch of Swiftsure at the end of November 2004, which, it appears, involved the sacrifice of some red wine rather than the traditional champagne. Tut tut. Paula Wriedt did the honours.

There was no mucking around. By February of the next year (2005) Swiftsure was involved in a ‘trial’ Tawe Nunnugah, being rowed from Franklin to the Wooden Boat Festival in the company of a Grebe, with a stop at Randall’s Bay for a photo opportunity and a camp.
