Sad news today from Scotland of the passing of Ian Oughtred. He designed many of the boats we know so well including the St Ayles skiff.
The following email came to Jim Barr, president of SASCRAA from Iain’s son.
Dear Jim
Having spent the day surrounded by visiting friends and perusing the many wonderful, supportive and loving cards and emails he has received, moments ago Iain died – calmly, peacefully, without pain, and with a wonderful view out over the waters of Broadford Bay and the Isle of Skye.
And as his sister Liz has said,
Iain you have lived a life true to your passion, as best you could. We love and honour your memory. Go well with peace and love. Old souls will be waiting to welcome you.
Our love surrounds you as you leave us.
