Bukhu to play at the Watershed

Martin Riddle writes: Our old friend Bukhu (the wonderful Mongolian throat singer and horse fiddle player) is back in town and has agreed to play at the Watershed Franklin (the old Franklin Evaporators) – 6pm-8pm on Thursday 18 January (doors open 5.30pm). Tickets ($20 or $5 for children under 16) available in advance from TryBooking at: https://www.trybooking.com/COMPC or at the door if not sold out. We hope to have food vans on site. Bring your own drinks.
The concert will open with Cygnet’s own Montz Matsumoto on vocals and banjo, playing his distinctive take on Bluegrass, Oldtime and Celtic. Bukhu will then perform a solo set including traditional and contemporary songs and his own compositions while accompanying himself on the Morin Khuur (Horsehead fiddle). In a World first, Montz will join Bukhu on stage to close the show. Both are acknowledged virtuosi of their genres – together we may experience something truly exceptional.
