Fiona Peate writes that she and her husband John have retrieved from the Scouts at the Lea a kayak built by John and Olegas Truchanas. The Scouts had lost interest.
‘It was built with an aluminium frame & cotton canvas stretched & sewn over. It had a threaded section aft that could allow the skin to be removed, the frame pulled apart to enable difficult terrain such as big waterfalls to be climbed around. We are in the early stages of restoration & are happy for people to come & have a look if they are interested.‘
