Saul, who has previously done several Tawe Nunnugah Raids as safety boat operator, has just completed the Sydney-Hobart Race as foredeck man on the original 43ft Wild Oats. Those who met Saul during the last few Raids will not be surprised to learn how well he fitted in among the race crew. He’s now finished school and is about to start a gap year – but of course he’s not doing anything normal like traveling overland to Kathmandu (well perhaps that’s not normal under the current circumstances). Instead he’s spending the year as an RAAF aircraft technician! Remembering how quickly he took to piloting the drone on his first Raid, it’ll be no surprise if the next Raid gets a low fly-over from the RAAF with Saul at the helm.
