Ian, one of our most senior members, passed away last Wednesday aged 99. In the most recent picture we have of him, taken a couple of years ago, he was showing off the cabinets he had just built.
He had taken up cabinetry when boats had got a bit much for him. He had built the fast rowing Skiff ‘Last One’ a couple of years before for his wife Di who writes
‘Hanging around the LBT now and again each summer, anchored in the Huon at Franklin, peeling spuds for Monday night dinners, was one of his happy places. He would want me to wish all at the LBT best wishes in their continuing endeavours and adventures in small wooden boats. Of which he was of course, such a fan. He built 13 such vessels that I know of. ‘
