‘I have searched the vault, and found this famous 1953 gangster film ‘The Big Heat’. Directed by Fritz Lang and stars Glen Ford as Dave Bannion in a stellar performance. Synopsis: Unrelentingly brutal crime drama centers on a street-toughened detective Dave Bannion (Glen Ford) who takes on a politically powerful crime syndicate after his wife is accidentally killed by the gangsters who have been assigned to murder him. The Big Heat is rated PG.’ Sunday 2 July upstairs at the Franklin Palais. Doors open 6.30pm, film starts when someone flicks the lights. After 7.15pm but before 7.30pm. Yes, simple but it still works a treat. Admission: $5 (I promise you will not be disappointed). Bar will be running with reasonably priced quality refreshments to assist with digesting this high quality offering, the usual red/white/beer/cider/tea/coffee/milky milo. Please bring a plate ( with something on it ) to share for supper during the intermission. Hope you can make it.
